Leading Volunteers

During post-Harvey recovery Josh nearly doubled the strength of the veteran-led volunteer force and personally led the some of the toughest disaster recovery options in the last 20 years of disasters in the State of Texas.

"Financial Planning Didn't Come Easily For Me.."

Not easily at all, in fact a lot of things didn’t come easily to me in my life..

I wasn’t a victim or disadvantaged anymore than your average joe, but I had to work for everything I’ve accomplished..

I learned to take the road less traveled early on in life and quickly realized it was the only road that would ever lead me to where I wanted to go..

Like everything else, I learned that the hard way too.

Getting out of the Army was a wake up call..

That I didn’t have it all figured out..

That I definitely thought I was better than I was..

That money worked much differently from what I was taught growing up..

Despite all of the ideas I heard, the schemes I eavesdropped in on were always missing critical elements to work..

Most of it involved doing one financial thing or another, but the biggest a-ha moment I had is when I realized that the majority of Americans seeking financial guidance today, are led astray..

Americans are led astray because of how the industry works..

Unfortunately the industry doesn’t require a doctoral education in order to give someone advice about the things that can impact them for the rest of their lives.. but they should.

The best way to understand the financial services industry is to think about it like a toolbox..

With each financial services firm representing a different tool in the box, designed to do a specific job.

Makes sense right?

Okay, cool.

The more I looked into how the world’s financial ecosystems worked, the more clear it became..

No one has it figured out..

Many people will tell you they have it figured out, and that’s where the toolbox comes in..

The companies you hear from regularly about your finances are selling “hammers”, or “drills”, or “screwdrivers”..

Their purpose on this earth is to convince you that all of your financial problems can be solved with their single tool.

But smart people, people who know they can’t always take everything at face value, know this isn’t true..

But they play the game anyway, and instead of focusing on the things they can control, they focus on the things they can’t like market timing, and fund or account expenses..

This plays directly into the industry’s game, and I’m here to tell you that most of the financial information you hear today either isn’t meant for you, or is misrepresented.

Financial products are tools, but you need more than one of them..

My job is to understand the things that are important to you..

To gain insight into how you think and feel about money..

To empathize with your journey, and learn how you got to where you are today..

To show you new or optimized paths to achieving your financial goals..

To make sure you have the right tool..at the right time.

To demonstrate that you may get somewhere faster on your own..

But together, we’ll go much further..

If you’re like me, and believe there is a better way then schedule a quick call to connect with me to learn a little more about my philosophy and see if we’re in alignment..

Hope to see you soon.
